The Skeabost House Lodge, was one of the Best Stay’s, we had on our 12 day Scottish Highland Trip. From the time we walked into the lobby, until the time we checked out after two day’s, Fiona and John, were always welcoming, attentive, and gracious!!! The room we booked, was a little small, but, the view across the loch and golf course made up for that, and the outside patio to sit on in the evening was a Plus!!! It was in August, and they were full; Book Early, and Often... Dinner, and Breakfast were Great, and John the Bartender, was very accommodating!!! Don’t miss this place if you are traveling to The Isle of Skye, for a few days; Full disclosure, it’s Not Cheap, but well worth the spend!!
The house itself, the staff, the food!!!
Our room was smaller, than we would have liked, but that was a minor inconvenience, as they were completely booked, and could not upgrade our room!!!
The general atmosphere and ambience was good. Staff were very attentive and the food was very good and enjoyable. The situation of the hotel was superb with a delightful garden and grounds.
The frontage was extremely impressive but on walking to the rear it became akin to a run down used car lot. Very disappointing.
The setting was great, lovely surrounds.
Yes, a lot. We realise that the hotel is an old buiding, but to have little to none hot water available for 3 days when you have 2 kids under 5 ids ridiculus. I always look forward to having a hot shower at the end of a day (or the start) and when your only choice is freezing cold water or nothing it really takes away from the stay. We also discovered that the tv reception became weak from 6 to 10 o'clock. We think this is because the roomk was the last in a row and the signal became weak when the other quests turned there tv on. This doesn't sound like much but when you are trying to calm the kids down and the tv is "snowing" it's not good.Reall for £99 a night it was pretty poor form. I must say, the breakfasts were fantastic, compliments
The breakfast was really good. Good furniture.
View from room 2 was not very good. No wi-fi in the rooms (though was available in the public rooms).
the location is fantastic with elegant views and to play golf at that range is dream come true.
The excellent food in the restaurant. Although we were booked for just bed and breakfast initially,we decided to dine in both evenings we were there because the food was so good. The ambience and views were also a wonderful bonus.
We were a little taken aback at first by some of the infrastructure of the building, particularly the state of the outside of some of the building. However the service, attention and standard of cuisine more than made up for this.
The staff were excellent and very helpful with a problem we had when we arrived. They appeared interested in you and nothing was too much trouble. We loved the bathroom and room as well as the drawing room and snooker room.
Felt that the cost of eating in the restaurant had gone up enormously - £25,000 for a steak for example. We decided not to eat there as was expecting it to be a set price for 2 or 3 courses. Would have been happy to pay £18.95-£19.95 or so. Ate elsewhere on the night. When returned and went into bar saw that there was abar menu there. If had seen this before would have probably eaten at the hotel. Staff could inform guests of this or it be in their rooms in obvious place or next to oter menu on board as if arrive late only see other dinner menu
The quality of the room furnishings and the character of the building.
original room unsatisfactory we were upgraded to honeymoon suite after complaint
I loved the amazing bedroom & gorgeous huge bathroom. The friendliness of the staff also helped to make it a lovely relaxing break for us.
We were disappointed with the standard of the dinner although the breakfasts were great.
the countryside and nice view from my room.the staff was very helpful and very very polite.
I was not really impressed with the food. The portion was very small and for the price I was charged I think around £17 I felt a bit ripped off.I have been cooking in restaurants for over 10 year and I know people don`t mind to pay as long the food is good and the portions are reasonable.
We stayed for one night on a whistlestop tour of the beautiful island of Skye. Our room was warm, well appointed and the bed was extremely comfortable. Our bathroom was amazing! After a wonderful nights sleep, we woke to views of the loch, then downstairs to a filling breakfast which set us up for the day. A special "thankyou" to the Managers daughter (sorry dont know your name) for taking time out to take us up into the tower and telling us amazing tales of the history behind the hotel.
Food was great as was the friendly and helpfull staff. Open fire was most welcoming.
Stayed in room 3. Bath was too long and therefore left little room to use the loo. Would not recommend for tall people unless they can dangle their legs over the side of the bath whilst seated on the loo.
The atmosphere was relaxed, the quality and quantity of food excellent, and it was a warm and friendly place.
The driveway from the main road was very poorly surfaced. This could have been car damaging, especially if approached in the dark
Pleasant and helpful staff, good food. Accommodation a bit frayed at the edges
A fire alarm event was not well handled with confusion at assembly point.
